7 Reasons Why Windows 98 is Better Than Windows 7

1 – Illegal Operations

Didn’t it make you feel rebellious and powerful to know that your computer had performed an illegal operation? Not only was it illegal, but it was so illegal that the computer had to be shut down! Who knows what it was doing.

2 – No native support for USB drives

Lots of viruses spread by infecting flash memory drives – Windows 98’s robust security thwarts this by excluding mass storage drivers altogether. Good luck getting a virus from a USB key when your computer doesn’t even know what one is!

3 – Compatibility with older programs

This has always been a problem that Vista and 7 have had to deal with, but Windows 98 will run some old apps. Excuse me, I have to go power up Lotus 1-2-3.

4 – No annoying security updates

It seems like every time I power my Windows 7 PC up, there are updates waiting to be installed. You don’t need to worry about that with Windows 98 – Microsoft stopped bothering its users with pesky updates almost four years ago, and I haven’t looked back since.

5 – Same security model as Mac OS X

Did you know that Macs don’t get viruses? That’s because they use special technology that confines their OS to a statistically insignificant percentage of the market, making it a less appealing target for hackers and malware developers. Well, these days, the same is true of Windows 98! Uninstall that anti-virus software and unlock the power of all 32MB of your computer’s RAM!

6 – Internet Explorer 6

Seems like everywhere I go, someone is talking about IE6 these days. I don’t ever actually read what they’re saying, but if everyone’s talking about it then it’s got to be something good!

7 – Classic Start menu

People have devised many ways to restore the classic Start menu to Windows 7. Well, why not run an OS that gives you no other option?
